Welcome to Great White Chronicles
Sharks are very misunderstood and mysterious creatures. As humans, we tend to fear what we don't understand. This fear has been instilled in us by movies, books and of course let's not forget the Media.
We have been told that sharks are evil monsters intent on devouring us as soon as we stick a toe in the ocean,
their home.
You can hear people say, "one drop of the blood in the water will send a shark into a feeding frenzy" and as humans, we buy into these lies.
The media doesn't like to give out facts, such as, as soon as the shark bites a human, it will usually spit it back out as they don't like the taste. You also won't hear the media tell you that sharks are more scared of us than we are of them. These facts don't sell stories as well as making the shark out to be a man eating monster.
A recent incident, and that is what it was an incident, made the headlines in huge letters "SHARK ATTACK" and then in smaller print it said that is wasn't the shark's fault.
Why you might ask?
It sells more papers if the headlines read "SHARK ATTACK" even if it was human caused. It plays on man's fear of the unknown. This fear then turns into a need to conquer the sharks at all costs.
William Shakespeare once said, "sharks are far more sinned against than sinning."
We need to stop and take the time to learn about these magnificent creatures before it's too late. They need our help if they are going to survive.
They are counting on us to be their voice. Will you help join in and be that voice?
Remember.........Extinction is forever!!!!!!!
